I am the mom of a child with Aspergers Syndrome. I am the mom of  a typically developing child who struggles under the frustrations and stress of having a sibling with Aspergers Syndrome.  Every day is a roller coaster, with wonderful moments where I think, “Hey, I’m doing a pretty good job. He’s making great choices. We can do this!”  And the moments in the day where I think, “Why is he freaking out?! What the hell do I do now?!”  Everyday, I wonder if I’ve given my typically developing child what she needs.  Sometimes I feel that I am too hard on her, or expect too much of her.  She is only 7, after all, regardless of whether she tends to behave older than her big brother.
